With this method, watering your plants while you are on holiday will no longer be a problem

A quick and easy method allows you to water your plants even when you are forced to stay away from home for a long time.

Anyone who owns one or more plants at home or in the garden knows how important it is to pay close attention to watering , in order to make the plants grow strong and lush and guarantee the plants a long life. You therefore need care and dedication to be able to fully admire the beauty of your plants.

But what to do when you are forced to stay away from home for a certain period of time? The first thing that comes to mind is contacting some trusted person (friends, relatives, partners, work colleagues) to water the plants. However, there is also a method that allows plants to continue to get the necessary watering even without turning to other people.

Watering plants even when you are not at home: the infallible method

The first thing to do is get two plastic bottles , one larger and the other smaller. This is because we will have to cut the final part of the largest bottle: from the bottom we calculate six centimeters in height and proceed with the cut. Once this step is completed, take the smaller bottle, which will be positioned vertically inside the lower portion of the larger bottle. Using a marker, we will also mark the maximum limit of the tank on the small bottle, which will coincide with the height of the lower portion of the larger bottle.

Half a centimeter lower than this mark that we will leave with the marker we are going to create a small square (possibly with a marker of another color). Using a cutter we will remove the plastic from this square, so as to have a small window where the water will come out.

Once this step has been completed, take a piece of fabric and cut a strip about 35 centimeters long. This strip of fabric should be placed on a piece of aluminum foil , which will be wrapped around the strip. We will have to be careful to let about 4 centimeters of fabric come out of the wrapped aluminum. All that remains is to fold the wrapped aluminum and place it inside the lower portion of the plastic bottle where we have already placed the smaller bottle.

The method is also perfect for pots

What we are creating is nothing more than drip irrigation . The base must be positioned in the ground, with a depth of about half a centimeter: inside we will place the smaller plastic bottle full of water, which will come out of the window and fill the lower part (which will act as a tank). Once this is done, apply the wrapped (and folded) aluminum to the inside of the base, which will instead act as a sprinkler. Within a short time, the drops of water will begin to come out of the sprinkler and will then water the soil of the plants.

But what happens if we realize that irrigation occurs at too fast a speed? Don’t worry, since it is also possible to regulate the watering. All you need to do is tighten the wrapped foil further to allow the water to pass through more slowly and ensure  proper watering . This method is also perfect for the pots we have at home, as long as you use some sort of small container that holds the irrigation system up . The idea is truly sensational and allows you to go on holiday even for a few weeks without the plants being affected.
